In my last post, I shared about an experience in which I thought that I might be able to believe in God again. I shared about how I prayed. I prayed earnestly that if God truly exists, that he reveal to me his existence.
Well, I received no response to my prayer, and that's ok. Moving forward, I'm comforted by the fact that if the biblical god were to exist, he would know (better than myself) each and every reason behind my unbelief. He would know exactly what it would take to convince me of his existence. And if he were to allow me to remain in unbelief, there wouldn't be anything I could do to change that.
You know I sat in a church for about three months wondering if they people of that church were living a lie. I was an atheist and then I became an agnostic just as your blog suggest you are. It is hard for individuals that are free thinkers to take the leap of faith, but that is what it takes sometimes. I walked away from that church for about 6 months with questions in my mind "what if they are right?" "Should I go back?" I ignored and ignored, I didn't want to give in to just feelings but eventually I did. I went back to that church and I took the leap of faith. I asked God to have the pastor call for the lost and He did. I went up prayed and got saved.
ReplyDeleteI am not going to pretend to know your situation or prayer. But what I want to say is that God is real and He is there for you. But sometimes you got to take the leap of faith, you have to trust by committing yourself. John Bunyan wrote the famous book 'a pilgrims progress' he is known as an evangelist as well. However, what people don't know is that it took 2 years for him to feel he had salvation. John earnestly prayed to God and made the commitment. Eventually God did a mighty work in His life and today over one hundred years later we know of his life. God loves you and He will be there for you. It just takes that leap of faith and to make the commitment, God will show up I promise you.
The danger in "taking a leap of faith" is that it is highly subjective. A person could tell me to take a leap of faith into Islam, Mormanisn, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, JWism, and so on.
ReplyDeleteIf you read my earlier posts (particularly NEWLY AGNOSTIC and SOME THINGS FOR THE CHRISTIAN TO PONDER), you'll see that I was a very devoted Christian. And you'll get an idea of how I ended up becoming agnostic.
Thank you very much for your comments. I look forward to future discussions with you :)
I went back and read some of your post, didn't realize you use to be Christian. The leap of faith is concerning that of Christianity. It is important to know truth and to study the various religions if you have to in order to find that truth. I understand your concern with prophecy but I am not sure you understand the number of years some took to unfold and how they at times manifest in situations that are unexpected or by those that did not know of the prophecy. Maybe I am not as well educated in prophecy but I have never seen the discrepancy you do.
DeleteI just know that Christianity fulfills the inner most important questions that apply two all aspects of life concerning, origin, meaning, morality, and destiny. I believe that searching for God is what you need and scouring for information and truth. Pray again my friend and again and again, lol. But seriously you are agnostic so I know you have not let go of God completely just hold on. I wish I had wise words to say but I don't, I love you and so does He, keep the faith my friend.
